Loadshedding (Whatever That Means)

Mum gets cross ’cause she says there’s no electricity for eight hours every day, so she can’t work or Skype her folks or write blogs.

Last night the power went off. I thought it was cool, all that candle wax dripping and moths to chase. And I can see in the dark, so I don’t need electricity at night.

Anyway, Mum downloaded this app. I thought she said nap. What?! We’ve only just got up! But she told me it’s a phone thing, silly. It works even when there’s no electricity and I can be the first to use it to write a blog.

Here’s a picture of me and My Cat. She thought there was a zombie behind the curtain. Luckily I’ve recently joined the Zombie Squad (more about that later) — Private Tikkie the Zombie Slayer is my new name — so I know how to check. There wasn’t a zombie.

OK. Seems this app thing doesn’t work quite like it should. The picture went to the media files on Mum’s own blog. So I’ll have to wait until electricity comes on again if I want to upload that picture (uh oh … Mum’s cross again).

Eight hours later, here’s the picture:

Share Your World – 2015 No 38

Each week Cee’s Photography asks us to share our World with her and this week I thought I would give it a bash.

About Share Your World?

Share your World is all about having a safe place for everyone to answer random questions that I post each week.  Here is the basic format.  I will ask you:

  • To answer three random questions each week.

  • Respond to a fourth item (I will randomly chose from this list)

    • Making a List out of a topic
    • Completing the sentence I start
    • Answering a Would you Rather question
  • Bonus Question is always the same  “What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?”  Because we all need to be reminded that there are many things in our lives to be grateful about.

Q. What do you do to make a living or during the day if you are retired.  If you are a student what are you studying?

A. I earn my keep by being awesome and cute. It’s a difficult job but someone has to do it.

Q. Have you ever participated in a distance walking, swimming, running, or biking event? Tell your story.

A. Are you kidding me? I love to run! Everything I do is at double time, so I guess you could say my life is a running event.

Ready. Set. Go!

Ready. Set. Go!

I won!

Q. What is usually your first thought when you wake up?

A. What? Morning already?

Complete this sentence: Look out behind you, it’s a …

Cat! It’s my cat!

2015-04-13 18.40.59

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for having a proper home, people who love me and a bed to sleep in at night (even though I have to share it with my Mum and Dad). Next week, there’s more love, cuddles and fun and I can’t wait!

Early Morning Exercize

Every day my annoying brother and silly sisters get to go for a ride in the back of the truck with Dad.

Dad drives slowly, so they can jump off the back whenever they feel like running — and when they get tired, they jump back on again.

When they get home they are full of interesting smells. I sniff and bark and yap and jump up and down around them, begging them to tell me where they went and what they saw. They know everything that happens on this farm and I really have to nag to get them to tell me anything.

Mum says I am too small and wont let me go with. But sometimes, if she can get me up early enough in the morning (I like to lie in, which suits Mum ’cause so does she), she will join Dad on his rounds and I get to go too!

The thing is though, she wont let me out of the car to run — she is afraid I will get too close to the wheels and get run over — so I have to stay in the front with her, but that’s OK. I get so excited watching the big dogs run. I jump from one side of the truck to the other, standing on Mum’s or Dad’s lap, and I stick my head out of the window and I bark!

It is such fun!

I think I’m going to get up early tomorrow. Maybe we can go for a ride?

My bed time rituals don’t vary very much.

First I put my paw on Mum’s arm and nag her “come on, it’s bed time!”. Sometimes she gets cross because my nails scratch her – I try not to let that happen because I hate having my nails cut. It’s so undignified (and unmasculine) for a boy to endure a pedicure!

Then I run to the bedroom to choose my favourite sock. I love socks! Apparently I have a sock fetish.

Such variety!

Which to choose?

The other day Mum noticed a strange bump on the side of my nose. She puts some ointment on it every day and now it’s shrinking (the bump, not my nose).

It’s embarrassing to have a yellow stain on the side of my face so I try to run away but she catches me every time.

This is my favourite sock. It's my Dad's.

This is my favourite sock. It’s my Dad’s.

Then I play with my Cat for a while. She’s not as interested in socks as I am.

And then I go to bed.

You can turn out the lights now.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Pat, Pet, Pit, Pot, Put

My Mum dropped something on my foot!

She was cooking something in the pot

She dropped that pot – it weighs a lot!

I cried. I wailed. And then I sat

And Mum she gave my head a pat.

I’m just a dog, a little pet

“Mum! Please take me to the vet!”

But I am tough, like Pete The Pit

And now it doesn’t hurt one bit.

This is my entry for this week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday:

Here are the rules:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. There will be a prompt every week. I will post the prompt here on my blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” or “Begin with the word ‘The’.”

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments, for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. Have fun!
